Eldridge Earley Goolsby was the first son born to John Robert Goolsby, and his wife, the former Laura Bell Proffitt, of Schuyler, Virginia.
Officially drafted into the armed forces on August 13, 1942, Mr. Goolsby served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war, he worked for the United States Post Office until his retirement in 1963.
He married the former Nellie Preston Carroll in 1945.
Mr. Goolsby's funeral was held at the Schuyler Baptist Church, Schuyler, Virginia, on July 22, 1994.
