and a longtime resident of Franklinton died at 2:00 pm Tuesday July 27, 2010 at Sherwood Manor Nursing Home in Baton Rouge. She was a member of Sunlight Baptist Church who enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles. She enjoyed playing and listening to music and was always a devoted mother and grandmother.

2 Sons and a daughter in law: Hugh Kassel Corkern, Jr. of Baton Rouge Dick and Lavern Corkern of Franklinton
3 Daughters and sons in law: Dixie Corkern Vaughn of Lacombe Leah and Paul Davis Suzanne and Mark Staid all of Baton Rouge
11 Grandchildren: Christopher Corkern, Michelle Rawls, Justin Corkern, Richard Corkern, Jr., Stephen Corkern, Rachel Carraway, Karen Hanson, Sheila Dean, Melissa Robinson, Stephanie Collins, Sarah Staid

She was preceded in death by her husband Hugh Kassel Corkern, Sr., her parents Fredrick Beard, Sr. and Mardis Ferguson Beard, granddaughter Stephanie Corkern, grandson Johnny Vaughn, 3 sisters, 3 brothers, and an infant sister
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home after 10 am Friday, July 30th until time of funeral service at 2 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Rick Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunlight Baptist Church Cemetery.
