He married Mary Leona Lipsey on 7 December, 1891 at Lyon County, Kansas. They gave birth to their first child, a daughter named Pearl, in January of 1894. By 1900, Ike and Mary (Lipsey) Burris were living in Shellrock Township of Greenwood County, KS with their six year-old daughter, Pearl. At the age of 28, Ike was working as a farm laborer.

On the 30th day of July in 1905, Schuyler Marion Burris was born to Ike and Mary in Greenwood County, KS. He was the second and final child they would have. By 1910, Marion Isaac and Mary (Lipsey) Burris were living in Madison Township of Greenwood County, KS. Living with them were their two children Pearl and Schuyler, as well as four of Ike's brothers. The 1910 U.S. Census records the occupation of Ike Burris as being a teamster, ending the centuries-long tradition of farming as the primary occupation of the men in the Burris family.

Marion Isaac Burris and his wife Mary Leona (Lipsey) were still living at Madison Township in Greenwood County, Kansas with their fourteen year-old son Schuyler when the 1920 Census was taken. Ike was still working as a truck driver at the age of forty-nine.

On October 8 of 1925, Marion Isaac "Ike" Burris passed away at the age of 54 and was buried at Line Cemetery in Olpe, KS of Lyon County. He was recorded in the Kansas State Census of 1925 just a couple of months prior to his death. At that time, he was living with his wife Mary and their 19 year-old son Schuyler. They also had a couple of older gentlemen living with them. Ike was listed as a teamster.
