HINZ - Harry Herman, 81, Horton, died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1987, at the Horton Community Hospital.

He was born July 11, 1906, at Lancaster, the son of Herman Albert and Maude Frank Hinz. He was graduated from Powhattan High School in 1926.

He farmed in the Powhattan area, lived from 1941 to 1946 in Idaho where he was a firefighter After he returned to Powhattan, he worked on the Brown County road crew before he retired.

He had been a member of the United Methodist Church in Powhattan and later was a member of the United Methodist Church in Horton.

He was married to Esther Schmitt, July 16, 1928, at Holton. She died January 3, 1984. A daughter, Betty Ann Hinz, died in infancy.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Hossfeld, Burley, Idaho, a son, Harry Lyle Hinz, Chicago, Ill, three sisters, Hulda Bartley, Horton, Dorothy Hall, rural Hiawatha, and Roseanna McMillon, Rupert Idaho, two brothers, Louis Hinz, Longmont, Colo, and Burl Hinz, Heyburn, Idaho, four grandsons; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton. Burial will be in Powhattan Cemetery Relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary Memorial contributions may be made to the Horton Community Hospital
