Alonso Delaware Hurlston was born on the island of Cayman Brac, one of the Cayman Islands, of the British West Indies. He came to the United States along with other Cayman Bracers for work. It is said that he worked on the construction of the Gandy Bridge. He lived on Rome Circle in Forest Hills, north Hillsborough County for many years with his beloved wife Lydia Foster.
