Alvin Leon Poole, 71, of Jasper died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003, at Baptist Medical Center-Walker.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. today, Aug. 29, 2003, at Kilgore-Green chapel with burial in Walker Memory Gardens.
Mr. Poole worked in the field of education in Cullman and Decatur. He served as principal of Austinville Elementary School for 21 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Elsie Poole; brother, Charles Edgbert Poole; and nephew, Jeffrey Poole.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Ellen Poole of Jasper; two daughters, Dr. Denise Poole-Cahela and her husband, Larry, and Melanie Pool, all of Jasper; step-grandson, Andrew Cahela of Auburn; sister-in-law, Kathryn Poole of Hartselle; nephew, Douglas Poole and his wife, Delores of Danville; great-nephews, Steven Poole and Michael Poole and their families all Danville; brothers-in-law and their wives, Leon and Kathleen Aldridge of Argo, Harold Aldridge of New Orleans, La., Jim and Janie Aldridge, and Bill and Daisy, Aldridge, all of Jasper.
Pallbearers will be Steven Poole, Michael Poole, Larry Cahela, Andrew Cahela, Hal Moore and Kenny Pike.
