Mrs. Bybee was one of Pleasant Hill's most beloved and prominent citizens. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Zerenberg, and was born on the Zerenberg Farm northeast of Pleasant Hill, on February 6, 1861. She was 84 years, 8 months and 10 days of age.
Her entire life was spent in this community, where she was connected with many of the business enterprises and farming interests. Her husband, the late John Bybee was engaged in the mercantile business here for many years.
Mrs. Bybee was a faithful member of the Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill, and was a regular attendant at all church services, Sunday School and Ladies Aid Meeting until failing health in her declining years caused her to retire from the work she loved. She was charitable in gifts to all worthy causes, and in her assistance to all in the time of need.
Surviving are a son, V.P. Bybee of Long Beach, CA, two grand daughters, Mrs. France Maurin of New Orleans, Louisian, and Mrs. Natalie Lenzi of Carlinville, Illinois. A daughter in law, Mrs. Edna Essman of Center, Missouri, came to Pleasant Hill to care for her during her last illness.
Two sons, Lou and Frank Bybee and a daughter, Ethel preceded the mother in death.
No definite funeral arrangements will be made until the son, Virgil P. Bybee, who is enroute to Pleasant Hill, arrives, however the service will be held in the Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill the first of the week.
