Our Great Grandfather Anton is loved, missed and remembered
the hearts of the many who loved him forever.
Anton Olsen Mellemsdokken was born in Vinstra Norway.
Anton married Hannah at the Sodorp Parish in Norway in 1899.
They ware living with Hannah's Father and siblings at the
Øverjordet Farm at least part of 1900. They appeared to have
lived with or stayed with both their Parents before they immigrated
to the USA in 1901 with their baby Alma Kristina. Anton's
Siblings Petra, Marit Mary, Johnannes and Ole immigrated to USA prior
to Anton immigrating. Anton's Sister Petra's husband Peter Thurstison
sponsored Anton's Family to come to the USA. They immigrated to the USA
from Norway before Anton and Hannah and lived in Aldrich MN.
Anton and Hannah initially raised their Family in Aldrich, Wadena Co MN
then Wadena MN. The family farmed and Anton worked for the Railroad.
Anton's Brother Ole Olsen worked for the Railroad. Many others in
our Family worked for the Railroad years later throughout generations
in the USA. Anton was a Proud Norwegian American. Anton was a hard
working honest man. Anton had strong work ethics. Anton was a
very skilled man. He made skis, sleds, other carpentry projects from wood.
He was skilled at farming. They used skis in MN as they had in Norway.
They initially traveled by horses, buggy and train. Anton He learned much about
how to live on the land from living in Norway... and survive the cold MN
weather. Anton's Grandchildren smile thinking of their many good memories
of him... They are elderly as of 2023, but have so many cherished fond memories
of Anton. He also insisted the the children do well in school... and
they did...Their education was important to Anton. In later life, Anton he worked
in downtown Wadena. Anton was a devote Lutheran and a strong man of Faith.
He valued honesty, hard work, altruism and his family. He loved his family
and they adored him. His children used to love to talk about their family
history. A person wrote a nice letter to the editor of the Wadena newspaper after
Anton passed away. In 1999, this writer typed Anton's Daughter Oline's biography
that included Anton and Hannah's History. Anton and Hannah are survived by many
relatives in the USA including MN and in Norway.

Anton was a Wadena Co. MN Pioneer.
Anton retired from the Northern Pacific Railroad
in 1947. Anton passed away at his home at 304 Jefferson St.
Wadena MN. He passed away following a stroke the same day. Anton's
Funeral Memorial Services were at the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Anton was a charter Member and Faithful Member of the
Immanuel Lutheran Church. Anton was a life long Lutheran
Church Member in Wadena MN.

a group of Norwegian Lutheran Churches. It is not known if
Johannes is buried in a Lutheran Cemetery or other cemetery in
Hawley Minnesota USA. We would like to locate exact burial site

Johannes was born in Norway. Johannes, his spouse
Annie Amundsdatter Olsen and their daughter Anna immigrated to the
USA May 14, 1887. Johannes passed away from a Lightening strike in
North Dakota ( Dakota Territory) USA soon after immigration.
Johannes's brother Ole later married Annie after she was widowed
in the USA. Johannes Daughter Anna married Andrew Samdal.
Anna Samdal is buried at Lakewood. May have also had nickname
John or Jon in the USA. We are searching to find where Johannes is buried
and would like to create a Memorial for him.

Anton was still in Norway when Johannes passed away. Possibly
burial 10-17-1887. Siblings Ole Olsen, Mary Olsen Loom
and Petra Olsen Thurstison were living in Minnesota
when Johannes Olsen passed away. It appears that Ole Olsen
may have had some ties to Lake Park Becker Co. MN, not far from Hawley.
Hawley isn't that far from Fargo North Dakota or Lake Park Becker Co. MN.

Norway translated the ECLA Lutheran Church of America Hawley Minnesota
records for our Family. Cemetery not listed in records found so far.
It appears that Johannes Olsen is buried in Hawley Clay Co.
Minnesota per the Church burial records. The records did not specify
which Cemetery in Hawley or specific church name. It appeared to be
a group of Norwegian Lutheran Churches. It is not known if
Johannes is buried in a Lutheran Cemetery or other cemetery in
Hawley Minnesota USA. We would like to locate exact burial site
and create a Memorial for Johannes to link to his Family
Members Memorials.

Anton's Daughter, Oline Marie Olson Carlson did an interview with this writer
in 1999 about Our Norwegian Family Roots. At the time Oline was elderly
and talked about what she remembered. She did a great job considering her age.
There is so much more we could have added that we know
now. And so much we don't know. The interview is attached to Anton
and Hannah's Daughter Oline's Memorial. Oline was proud of her Parents
Anton & Hannah.
The home/land once owned by Anton and Hannah Olson
at 304 Jefferson St. in Wadena is now the location of the Casey's
Store and Gas station in Wadena MN.
