Jack (John Skidmore) Archer, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather departed this life on Sunday, July 25, 2010 in Lubbock, Texas at the age of 86. Jack was born November 10, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA to the late John and Leo Archer. He married Nita Hadaway-Archer on September 21, 1985 in Rancho Palos Verdes, California. Jack was a graduate and professor at MIT and retired from TRW Airspace Corporation in 1992 after 31 years of service. In 1993, he became an adjunct professor at Texas Tech University in engineering, retiring again in 2008. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Lubbock.

He is survived by his wife Nita of Brownfield, TX; one brother, Jim of Baltimore, MD; one sister, Jane Ladany of Lancaster, PA; three sons, Johnny and his wife Melanie of Seattle, WA, Phillip and wife Myrna of Harbor Island, CA, and, Randy Echols of Lake Isabella, CA; four daughters, Julie Faia and husband Tom of Lake Elsinore, CA, Rosemary Baran and husband Roger of Seattle, WA, Denise McLeod and husband Howard of Lake Arrowhead, CA, and Dana Jimenez and husband Jose of Brownfield, TX; 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Nathan Archer and one daughter, Rusty Gray.

Formal visitation will be held at White Funeral Home in Lubbock from 6:00-7:30 PM on Thursday, July 29th, 2010.

Services will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, July 30, 2010 in the chapel at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on 70th & Frankford in Lubbock, TX. Viewing and visitation will begin at 10:30 AM on Friday, July 30th, 2010 in the chapel at the church. A brief graveside will follow at 2:00 PM at the Terry County Cemetery in Brownfield, TX.
