Edwin W. Moore was the son of James H. Moore and Lucretia Ann Butler.
In 1861 Edwin enlisted as a Private, mustered into H Company, Iowa 8th Infantry.
In 1862 he was a POW at Shiloh. He re-enlisted in 1864 and achieved the rank of
corporal. Edwin came West about the same time Annie and Herman Adams. He may
have been married and then was divorced. He was a laborer and never accumulated
much money. Finally age crept up on him and he was admitted to the Washington
Soldiers Home and Colony in Orting, Washington, where he died, and is buried.
