Alexander Carpenter married in 1581. According to older sources, her name was Priscilla Dillen. There was a Priscilla Carpenter who died in 1653 in Wrington, Somerset, but, in a letter dated 19 Aug 1644 or 1646 from Alice Bradford to Mary Carpenter (then of Wrington, Somerset), it is clear that the mother of the Carpenter sisters had recently died in the colonies.
