For Fifteen Years He Waged a Losing Fight to Regain His Health

__________

Morgan Taylor, son of Dr. C. B. Taylor and widely known Carthage young man, died at 10:10 o'clock this morning after a long illness. The end came at the Taylor home at Morgan Heights.

For 15 years Morgan Taylor has battkled courageously to regain his health. A person with a less determined spirit would have given up long ago, but not Morgan Taylor. for years he has been spending his winters in Cactus, Arizona, returning to the Taylor home here in the summer time. He suffered from tuberculosis, which, complicated with a nervous breakdown, caused his death.

He returned to Carthage about a month ago from Cactus. Since his arrival home, his decline has been noticeable and it has been realized for sometime that the end was approaching.

Morgan Taylor was 36 years old. He was born in Licking, Missouri. at the age of four he came to Carthage with his parents and he grew up in this city, attending the Carthage High School and completed the course at Western Military Academy, Upper Alton, Illinois. He then attended the University of Missouri the next two years, taking the law course. However, his studies there were cut short in 1910 by illness and then began the long fight to regain his health.

While in High School, Morgan Taylor was an outstanding athlete. "Doc," as he was known to his friends, starred in baseball and also in football. He also ranked high in athletics at college. He was possessed of a disposition that won and held warm friendships.

Besides his father, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Courtland Scoville, who lives at the family home at Morgan Heights, and a half-brother, Dr. J. Edwin Ray, of Kansas City. His mother died a number of years ago. Dr. Ray was here recently to visit Morgan Taylor, and will return for the funeral.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Taylor residence. The Rev. Dr. G. F. Harbour, pastor of the Main Street Presbyterian church, will have charge. Burial will be in the family mausoleum in Park Cemetery.
