1st Lt. Ray "Pappy" Sharp, Son of Finis S. and Laura Sharp, of Nevada, Missouri. His father was a Brakeman for the Railroad. Ray was a Navigator on a B25H bomber, tail number 43-4108 stationed out of Ladd Field, Alaska. On his final flight he is listed as an observer because the navigators seat had been removed for armament configuration. The bomber disappeared in route from Kodiak to Ladd field, near Fairbanks, Alaska. After years of research and interviews with commanders and search and rescue pilots it most likely crashed into Mt Deborah during a storm at high elevation and was buried in the glacial pack on the southwest side of the mountain. No trace has every been found.
