Lena Roach was born May 31, 1907 in Osborne County. She was the next to the last of thirteen children born to Sarah and Albert William. She passed away at the Bethesda Care Rest Home on March 8th, 1992 at the age of 84 years 9 months and 8 days. She grew up in the Mayflower community, attending the Mayflower school and was a member of the Mayflower United Brethern Church until the closing of the church. At the time of her death she was a member of the Gaylord Church of the Nazarene. She was united in marriage to Floyd Roach on June 14, 1928. They lived on a farm just south of the Mayflower Church until 1944 when they moved to a farm north of Gaylord and later moved into town. She was a homemaker and took in washings, worked some as a dishwasher at the Winters' Cafe and also at the school house for a time washing dishes. She was the night operator at the Farmers' Mutual Telephone office for the last few years it was in exsistence. She was precedeeded in death by her husband, her parents, and all of her brothers and all but one of her sisters. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, three grandchildren and their spouses, five great-grandchildren and one sister, Minnie Smith.
