Peter and Anna left Shönchen, Russia and arrived in New York on August 3, 1876 aboard the SS Suevia. The passenger list shows the following for their family:
Peter 54, Anna 44, Johannes 16, Anton 13, Peter 9, Alexander 9, Rosina 8, Maria 4. Maria was Peter and Anna's oldest. Alexander is from Peter's first marriage. The others are children from Anna's first marriage to Jacob Diehl.
They arrived in Liebenthal, KS August 14, 1876. They were among the second large group of Volga Germans to settle in that area.
In the 1910 Census, Anna, age 80, was widowed and living by herself. She states that she was the mother of 19 children with 7 living at that time.
