OBITUARY- Samuel R. Morris

Samuel R. Morris was born on November 27, 1878 near Elk Creek, Nebraska. He was the son of Robert and Jane Morris, one of a family of seven children. He passed away to his Lord at the Humboldt Hospital January 26, 1956 at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 29 days.

He was married October 15, 1902 to Elizabeth Covault, daughter of John and Zella Covault. To this union one son was born. Following his marriage, he and his wife lived at Elk Creek and then Lewiston for a few years. They later moved to Gage county and lived near Crab Orchard for 24 years.

While living at Crab Orchard Mr. Morris joined the United Brethren church there and was baptized in the Blue River at Wymore.

They moved to Table Rock in 1952, celebrating their golden wedding anniversary soon afterward.

On January 16, Mr. Morris suffered a broken hip in a fall at his home and was taken to the Humboldt Hospital where he passed away at 10:30 a.m. January 26th.

Survivors are his wife, Elizabeth, son Charles Edwin and daughter-in-law, Mary of Lincoln; two grandchildren, Charles Robert and Sammy Kaye Morris also of Lincoln; one brother, Charles Morris of Del Rio, Texas; and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Armstrong of Omaha.

Mr. Morris was a wonderful husband, father, friend and neighbor. His love for his grandchildren was an outstanding characteristic of his life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Services were held at the Kovanda-Beethe Chapel in Table Rock Saturday, January 29 at 2:30 p/m/ Burial was in the table Rock cemetery.

Vocal music was furnished by Misses Ardyce Howell and Alice Kotalik, accompanied on the piano by Mrs. C. W. Covault.

Acting as pallbearers were Frank Sochor, Wm. Vondrasek, Edgar Gilbert, Edgar Norris, Clement Hubka and Edmund Steiner.

Flower ladies included Mrs. John Covault, Mrs. Delmar Covault and Mrs. Fred Svoboda.
