Marriage Record
Name Joseph W. Wilkinson
Gender Male

Marriage Place Des Moines, Polk, Iowa
FHL Film Number 1014767
Grooms mother Martha A. Crockett
Grooms father O. E. Wilkinson
Groom Joseph W. Wilkinson
Bride Ida M. Canada
Brides mother Martha J. Boyer
Brides father Isaac Canada
His marriage to Ida M Canada makes no sense because she was married to Cassius Persons two years earlier in 1885, but it does correctly list his parents and hers.
Married Etta May LaRue in Polk county 26 Apr 1892
1895 Iowa census he lists born in AL but he was born in IN
Around June of 1900 my great- grandmother had him removed from the home and divorced him. He was said to have been sent to the sanitarium where he lived until he died.
On June 1 of 1900 my grandmother was staying with her aunt Emma LaRue Force and appears on that census. She then appears on the same 1900 census on Jun 27, 1900 now back in the home with only her mother and brother which substantiates the information I have that something big happened to the family in June of 1900.
1905 Joseph is a Clarinda State Hospital inmate.
Wife Etta May married Union Stoner Dec 27, 1905
1910 Clarinda State Hospital inmate
In 1910 my grandmother's stepfather was Union Stoner. Both she and her brother went by the last name of Stoner for a time.
1915 Clarinda State Hospital inmate and census states he is insane
1923 he died at Polk County Asylum. He was buried at Glendale and without a headstone.
My grandmother sometimes identifies her father as J.W. Wilkinson, and also William Wilkinson.
