Denison Dewey worked in Bethel and Montpelier as a manufacturer of tin, brass, copper and sheet iron ware and sold associated housewares. In Bethel he was in partnership with S T Coy (circa1858 Coy & Dewey). In 1864 he and Truman C Phinney operated in Montpelier in the same business (D. Dewey & Company). In 1869 he bought out Phinney and operated on his own in the same city on State Street.
