Richard Jackson Allen of Route 4 Reidsville died Wednesday en route to Annie Penn Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Rockingham County, and a retired auto mechanic for the NC State Highway department.
He was a charter member of Friendly Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Greensboro. Surviving are his wife Una Ellis Allen of the home; daughters Sallie Shelton, Mildred King, Ruth Moore, Hilda Shore, Rachel Dowdy,and Sarah Smith; sons James Allen, Robert Allen, Claude Allen, and Thomas Allen.
Funeral will be 2p.m. Friday at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Reidsville with burial in Hillsdale Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.
