Karen Anderson was born Karen Matea Christiansdatter in Dønum , Norway to Olea(Oline) Kristofersdatter and Christian Olsen.(Michael Larsen aka Larson was her step father) It doesnt appear her mother and father were ever married. It is unknown if he was a part of her life. Her mother married Michael Larsen and Karen used his last name, she went by Karen (also went by Carrie at times) Larsen. She married Bernt Anderson November 11, 1870. They had 12 children together. They came to the United States in 1873. They brought with them at the time their 2 children, Ole Berntsen (born July 7 1871) and Fred B. Anderson (born February 7, 1873. On the trip here from Norway,, Ole passed away. I do not know if it was from illness or he wasn't strong enough to make the trip here. They were at sea for 2 months. They settled in Bear Creek, Sauk County, Wisconsin most of their lives. They did manage to end up in Faulkton, South Dakota. She died in 1923 in Colbert, Spokane, Washington State.
