Gladys Marie (Cordell) Dake, 103, was born July 23, 1906 to George Nathaniel and Mary Lureta (Carr) Cordell in West Plains, MO. She went to heaven February 28, 2010 at Grace Living Center, OKC SW. She was raised in Stratford, OK and moved to OKC in early 1940s, where she remained until the present time. She worked at Douglas Aircraft during the war as a "Rosie the Riveter" and later worked as pastry baker for MWC Hospital, retiring in 1971. She was an avid gardener, especially her roses, onions and tomatoes, and loved doing needlework, playing piano and crossword puzzles. She loved her family and was a devoted, staunch Christian woman. She married William A (Gus) Dake in 1925, and they raised 4 children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gus; and son, Bill. She is survived by Richard Jack Dake and wife, Elaine; daughter, Louise Huchteman, husband, Darrell; and daughter, Joanne Lane, husband, Charles; 11 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. We especially want to thank the staff of Grace Living Center and Good Shepherd Hospice for the loving and excellent care of our dear mother. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at McGee Cemetery, Stratford, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home and Chapel, Moore, OK.
