Joseph J. Berosik Sr., 91, Kermit native, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2002, at Heritage Place in Kalispell, Mont. Funeral services were held Jan. 29 at the Christian Center in Kalispell with Rev. John Weaver officating. Burial followed at Glacier Memorial Gardens.
Joseph was born July 30, 1910, at Kermit in Mentor Township to Mike Berosik, Sr. and Anna (Jakusja) Berosik, who were immigrant homesteaders in North Dakota. Joe was educated in a country school near Kermit.
He married Ella Pederson May 26, 1936, in Crosby. They lived in Sioux City, Iowa, for a time before moving to Noonan where they farmed until 1952. When Joe was not activley farming, he worked in the trucking business.
In 1952 the Berosiks moved to the Helena Flats area near Kalispell. They later sold the property and went into the trucking business full time. Joe retired in 1978 after a deer-related truck accident. He loved driving and enjoyed mechanics and checkers.
In 1984 Joe and Ella moved to Apache Junction, Ariz., and were snowbirds for about three years.
Joe and Ella were members of the Christian Center Assembly of God Church. Joe had been a resident of Heritage Place since May 2001.
He is survived by his daughter, Marlene (Roger) Rusch of Federal Way, Wash.; two sons, Joseph Jr. (Karen) and Jerrold (Sally), all of Kalispell; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Wibbel of Mesa; 11 grendchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years.
