George E Cheever, 69, 206 West St Joe Street, died Monday evening after a lengthy illness.
A former stationary engineer in Detroit, Mr Cheever was retired 32 years ago because of his loss of eyesight. He had lived in Litchfield for 23 years.
Born in Jefferson township Oct 31, 1881, he was the son of George W and Margaret Chapin Cheever.
On Jan 4, 1908 he was married to Sylvia Hoffman. She survives.
Other survivors are: a son, George, of Kalamazoo; a sister, Mrs. Edna Hewitt, of North Adams; a granddaughter, Jean, of Kalamazoo; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at the Litchfield Baptist church, with Rev G Joseph Bershe of Pontiac officiating.
Burial will be in Mt Hope cemetery.
