Benjamin H. Parish was first married in 1849 to Sarah Elizabeth Reece, and they had two daughters -- Margaret A. (1852) and Sarah Elizabeth (1853). Ben's wife died in 1853, and it is quite likely her death was related to the birth of little Sarah Elizabeth, named after her. No graves have been located for them, but they probably were buried in what is now called the Parrish or Garrison cemetery on the Wet Glaize since both the Neelys and the Parish family settled and lived there before moving to Auglaize Township in Camden County.

On November 11, 1854 Ben remarried to Martha M. Neely, daughter of Robert and Sarah Neely, their neighbors. They had six children together -- Frances, Harriet, James, Lee Roy, Leonard, and Franklin. When they became older, Ben and Martha lived in the home of their second daughter, Harriett Parish Sweatt.

Their son, James, died at age 20 and was buried in Brown Cemetery in 1883. When Ben Parish died in nearby Lebanon, Missouri in 1906 and Martha died in 1914, they were buried beside him.
