In Oct 1772, William Stinson emigrated with wife Ruth and their children to South Carolina along with his brother, James and sisters: Nancy Stinson Brady & Elizabeth Stinson Anderson. They were part of Rev. William Martin's "Scotch-Irish Presbyterians" who had been granted land in the back-country of The Carolina's. William settled along Rocky Creek in what became Chester County.
Ruth Green Beattie Stinson died due to complications on the day her twin daughters, Nancy and Elizabeth were born.²
