Martin Ditmars was born in the state of Ohio, April 23, 1835. His parents moved to Missouri when he was 5 years old. He departed this life January 22, 1918, being at the time of his death 82 years, 8 months and 29 days old. On June 23, 1869, he married to Margaret A. Rhodus at Haynesville, Clinton County, Mo.
This union 12 children were born; Mrs. Alice (Ditmars) Howell,of Willow Springs, Mo; John Ditmars of Osborn, MO.; Fannie (Ditmars) Chowning of Camden, Mo.; Mrs. Lizzie (Ditmars) Hubbard and Samuel, these two died several years ago. James and Mrs. Teal Vanderpool of Braymer, Mo.; Mrs. Anna (Ditmars) Hubbard of King City, Mo.; Lottie Pearl, who died several years ago; George Ditmars of King City, Mo.; Mrs. Ella Peery of St. Joseph, MO. and Daniel of King City, MO.

Besides his immediate family, he leaves several sistera dna a number of grandchildren & great grandchildren and friends to mourn his loss. His aged wife still survives him, though quite feeble. Mr. Ditmars united with Brooklin Christian church in Clinton County in 1885.
