SAN PIERRE -- Funeral services for the deceased, Mrs. Bernard Fitzgerald, who met a tragic death by drowning in a marl pit on their farm two miles northwest of town early last Tuesday morning, were held from the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Hine on Friday afternoon. The tragedy occurred even while her son, Pvt. Alden who has been stationed at Camp Riley, Kansas, was on his way home for a 15 days' furlough. He arrived home on the following day.
Mrs. Elizabeth Catherine Fitzgerald, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman A. Hine, was born in San Pierre, Ind., on Dec. 28, 1896. On Nov. 23, 1916, she was united in marriage to Bernard Fitzgerald; a son Alden, now in the service of his country, blessing the union. The deceased was baptized in the St. Luke's Evangelical church of San Pierre and was confirmed in the faith of that church. She received her entire education in the San Pierre school. Surviving her are her husband and son, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Hine, of San Pierre, a brother, also of San Pierre and a sister, Mrs. Mae Marshall of Indianapolis.
