Lawrence was a member of the American Reformed Church in Luverne. Following his retirement, he enjoyed bird watching and keeping an eye on the daycare children next door. He enjoyed watching the rural farm channel and had a special interest in old time tractors. He was always taking care of his yard and flower garden and could often be found outside weeding. He liked being around his family and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up.
He is lovingly remembered by five daughters, Wanda and her husband Nick Trieweiler of Thornton, Colorado, Venieta Leikvoll of Willmar, Minnesota, Bonnie and her husband Monte Steilow of Garvin, Minnesota, Loray and her husband Lee Edenloff of Alexandria, Minnesota, and Lisa and her husband Erik Leithe of Missoula, Montana; one son, Brent and his wife Chele Gerloff of Luverne, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Tony Trieweiler, Andy and Brittany Leikvoll, Katelyn and Carly Edenloff, and Kellen and Samantha Gerloff; two step-grandsons, Jamie Meyeraan and Nathan Steilow; and three sisters, Marie Gerloff of Luverne, Minnesota, Margaret Van Stelton of Sibley, Iowa, and Elsie and her husband Ervin Bergman of Luverne, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and a son-in-law, Thomas Pettit.
