The daughter of Victor S. Strode and Rose Etta Hubbell, Beulah was raised in Kit Carson County, Colorado where her father was a grain farmer.

In the late 1920's, Beulah married Martin A. Cockrell. They lived in California during the early years of their marriage.

By 1930, the Cockrells returned to Calhoun County, Illinois. He worked there as a farmer, and they were the parents of 3 children. After Martin died in 1941 at the age of 38, Beulah worked as a private duty nurse.

Children from first marriage: 1 son, 2 daughters.

Beulah married a William M. Yarborough on 22 Dec 1963 in Bethalto, Madison County, Illinois. The couple lived in East Alton.

Children from second marriage: 3 step-daughters, 3 step-sons.

According to her obituary, printed in the Alton Telegraph the day of her death, Beulah passed away at Jersey Community Hospital in Jerseyville. At the time of her death, she was 75 years, 3 months and 21 days old. She was survived by her second husband, William; 1 daughter; 1 son; 3 step-daughters; 3 step-sons; 22 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 brother, Oscar Strode of Kankakee.

Visitation was held after 4 p.m. on 21 Apr 1981 at Marks Morturay. Funeral services were conducted there at 1:30 p.m. the following afternoon.

Burial was at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Bethalto. The photos at right of the stone she shares with her first husband, Martin Cockrell, were taken at Wilson Cemetery in Batchtown, Calhoun County, Illinois.
