Graveside services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Charity Cemetery. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Henry (Hank) Atteberry, 96, was born Feb. 1, 1912, in Charity, the son of Timothy and Bernice (Harmon) Atteberry. He died Feb. 15, 2008.

He attended school in Charity and then business college in Springfield. He went to work for Southwest Electric.

He married the love of his life, Ruby Webb, in 1938.

He served in World War II, as a combat engineer in the pacific. After the war, they moved to Dallas, Texas, where he was employed by Federal Mogul until his retirement.

He served as a deacon and greeter for the Lakeview Christian Church in Dallas for many years.

He returned to Springfield in 2005, but never gave up his love of the Dallas Cowboys, the Mavericks, the Rangers and his special friends in Dallas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his five brothers: Pat, Butch, Deryl, Joe and Jim Atteberry; and a sister-in-law, Masako Atteberry.
