"A sad and fatal accident befell Austie H. Martin, son of David Martin, the blacksmith of this place sometime early Wednesday morning – supposedly about 3 or 4 o’clock, on the road between Stark and Princeville, and three miles south of this place. The accident was evidently the result of a runaway, as young Martin was found in an unconscious condition at about 11 o’clock in the forenoon, lying by the roadside where he had been thrown from the vehicle. He was picked up for dead and brought to his home at Stark where he lingered until about 8:40 last evening when he died without having regained consciousness. Medical aid was at once summoned, but could not be obtained until 5:30 last evening – three hours before death occurred. It was evident from the first that no medical aid could save his life as the neck was dislocated. Drs. Alyea of Princeville, and Brown of Wyoming, rendered all possible aid. His parents, two sisters and a brother are left to mourn the untimely death. He was aged 18 years, 10 months and 12 days. The funeral will probably occur tomorrow afternoon."
