Siblings: Mary Ann McCullough 1855-1921, Olive McCulough 1856- , Jonathan McCullough 1859- , William McCullough 1862- , Lucinda McCullough 1864- , Margaret Elizabeth McCullough Dunshee 1866- , Helen McCullough 1868- , Julia McCullough 1872- , James McCullough 1872-1925, Lydia McCullough 1875- , Oliver McCullough 1878-1902
Married Thomas M Turpin 1877
Children: Elijah Y Turpin 1877-, David E Turpin 1880- , Edith P Turpin Cooke Stevenson 1887-1984, William H Turpin 1892-
Something apparently happened to daughter Edith Turpin Cook and husband because in 1900, their 4 youngest children were all living with grandparents Amanda and Thomas.
More detail from a relative of Edith
You also stated that something happend to Edith Turpin Cook. Edith was married to Clarence Cook and they divorced sometime after the 1920 cencus. When they divorced the 4 of the 5 children went and lived with Thomas and Amanda while Edith work else where as a house servent for a while. The first census the 4 children show on is the 1930 as living with Thomas and Amanda. Still trying to verify how long they lived with them but I do know that Edith remarried before 1940 to a Earl Stevenson and they lived in Waverly, kansas.
Additional detail regarding the family
I notice that you had information from a "relative" of Edith's about her being a house servant for awhile and four of the five children living with Amanda and Thomas. I believe that for a time they had a farm in Homewood, KS. My grandmother(Joyce) talks about living with her grandmother(Amanda) while her mother (Edith) went to work in Wichita for a while and that she and her siblings lived with their grandparents. C.
