Granville Noah "Sy" Edmundson, Jr. Lt. Col. US Air Force, Retired. Born April 2, 1930 Pleasant Hill, Mississippi, died July 19, 2010 in Collierville, Tennessee at age 80 after an extended illness. He was devoted husband of Sammie Foster Edmundson, Father of Granville Noah Edmundson III of Houston, Brother to June Mink of Nashville and Rip Edmundson of Milwaukee. Sy was predeceased by daughter Tracy Ann Edmundson in 1971, parents Granville Noah Edmundson Sr. in 1955 and Alma O'dell Crowson Edmundson in 1977, Sister Emily as an infant in 1939. Sy attended Memphis Tech High class of 1948. He received his BA at the U of Nebraska and Masters from Memphis State. He was a career Air Force officer and flew 100 missions in F84 Thunderjets in Korea. After retirement from the Air Force, he served at Memphis State in Admissions for 10 years. He and his wife travelled the country by RV for 25 years. Some of his greatest loves were his nieces, nephews, adopted grandchildren and his many friends. Sy was loved by everyone he met, sorely missed by all he loved, never to be forgotten by any. Services will be held on Thursday, July 22nd at 10 AM at Collierville Funeral Home with visitation at 9 AM. Internment will be at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on Forest-Irene Road at 11 AM.
