Alice M. Ableman, age 88, of Cleveland SC, died on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014 with family at her side.
Alice Mae was born on May 9, 1926, the daughter of Benjamin and Alice (Newell) Getschman. On Sept. 13, 1942 she was united in marriage with Berwyn Ableman.Alice worked at Divine Savior Hospital for more than 20 years until her retirement at age 62. Her interests included knitting, reading and especially spending time with her children and grand children. Alice was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Portage for over 50 years.Survivors include her children; Marie (Robert) Hoffer of Portage; daughter-in-law Carol Abelman of Cleveland SC; William (Virgina) Ableman of Auburn, Washington; Lisa (Dennis) Shadel of Portage; Alice (Curtis Gibson) Abelman of Roseville, Minnesota; grand children, great-grand children and great- great-grandchildren.Mrs. Ableman was preceded in death by her parents; husband Berwyn on Feb. 2, 2002; and her son Stephen on Feb. 17, 2014.Mother was blessed with the love and care given to her by her daughter-in-law, Carol Abelman and her son Tim Brown.Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Portage. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.The Rev.
