DAVID GAST FUNERAL SET FOR MONDAY

David Gast, 71, retired employee of Birum-Olson Co. Buick Garage, died suddenly Friday evening in Minneapolis while on an Easter weekend visit with his son and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Gast had gone to Minneapolis Friday.

Mr. Gast died suddenly while at a grocery store with his son.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Major Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Robert L. Stone, pastor of the First Congregational Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Gast was born March 28, 1892, in Nora Springs, son of David and Nettie (Hawthorne) Gast. He attended schools in Nora Springs and after moved to Mason City, where he met his future wife, Lucille J. Pipes, also a native of Nora Springs.
They were married June 29, 1919, in Mason City, where they continued to make their home at 13 5th NE. He was associated with Birum-Olson Co. 26 years when he retired in 1960.
He was a veteran of World War I, a member of the American Legion and VFW, the Masonic Lodge and the First Congregational Church of Mason City.

Surviving are his wife, a son, Roger B. Gast, Minneapolis, formerly employed at the Globe-Gazette, and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
The family has requested that any memorials be given to the First Congregational Church. Friends may call at the chapel from 3 p.m., Sunday until the time of service.
