FRITZ BATZKAS SURPRISED AT ANNIVERSARY PARTY
Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Batzka of San Pierre were honored at a surprise 25th anniversary party held Sunday, March 31 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Hoffman at Lafayette.
Hosting the party were the Hoffmans, Tom and Duane Parks and Mrs. Evelyn Schultz of Valparaiso.
Mrs. Batzka was presented a yellow rose corsage tinted with silver. Mr. Batzka was given a silver tinted white carnation.
The four-tiered anniversary cake was baked by a friend of the family. Lunch was served and the afternoon was spent visiting and playing cards.
Those attending from the San Pierre area were Mrs. Ann Sparks, Miss Edna Batzka, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Bechler, Cindy, Steve and Lori, Mr. and Mrs. Hilbert Kalinke, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Kalinke, Mrs. Ruth Douglas of La Crosse, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Batzka of Wanatah and Kenneth Batzka of Valparaiso.
Other guests were from Highland, Gary, Monon, Star City, Monticello, Francesville, Medaryville, Attica, Westville, La Crosse and Chicago.
The Batzkas have spent their entire married life in the San Pierre area.

SAN PIERRE -- Services for Mrs. Dorothy L. Batzka, 63, of San Pierre, who died at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday in Walter's Hospital, Michigan City, will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the McCormick-O'Donnell Funeral Home, North Judson. Rev. Richard Bowker, pastor of the La Crosse United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Francesville. Friends may call in the funeral home.
Mrs. Batzka was born on August 26, 1913, in Francesville and had lived in the area all her life. On April 2, 1949, in Winamac, she married Fred E. Batzka, who survives. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Schultz of Valparaiso, Mrs. Belva Comer of Merrillville and Mrs. Betty Koffman of Lafayette, and a brother, Earl Myers of Monon.
