Funeral services for Mr. Doug Berry, age 78, will be held Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Bailey Mortuary Chapel, Springhill, LA, with Rev. W.D. Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Western Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Springhill, LA.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, July 19, 2010.
Mr. Berry was born January 20, 1932 in Houston, TX and passed away Sunday, July 18, 2010 in Shongaloo, LA at his residence. He became a resident of this area in 1954, moved to Alaska in 1959 and returned to Shongaloo in 1972. Mr. Berry was a member of the Baptist faith, was retired from Berry Construction Company and was also the owner/operator of Berry Grocery for twelve years.
He is survived by his daughters, Linda Gail McDonald and husband, Randy of Bastrop, TX, Trina Carlene Williams of Houston, TX, Shawn Kay Vaughan and husband, Stanley of Shongaloo, LA; sons, Terry Wayne Berry and wife, Phyllis of Cleveland, TX, Danny Eugene Berry and wife, Kaye of Emerson, AR, Ronnie Wayne Berry and wife, Susan of Reno, NV, Douglas Alan Berry of Taylor, AR; twenty grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren; brothers, James L. Berry and wife,Berry of Austin, TX, Gene Moore and wife, Dean of Lynchburg, TN and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Berry was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nell Barnard Berry, September 15, 2006.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Camp, Eddie Barnard, Donnie Barnard, David Barnard, Frank Emmons and Chuck Price. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Covington and J.W. Robinson.
