August Herman Browatzke b. November 20, 1846 in Guidenboden, East Pruessen, Germany, the son of Gottfreid and Elisabeth (Wolk) Browatzke. August served in the German Army in Hanover 1866-1869, and fought in the Franco-Prussian War 1870-1871. He was wounded at Gravellate on August 18, 1871 and was a patient at Hilburghouse Hospital. He came to America May 15, 1892. August Browatzke and his wife Augusta Behnke (sometimes spelled Banke) arrived at Kranzburg South Dakota on August 8 1892 where they farmed for several years. They left South Dakota on May 25 1919 and moved to Kisbey, Saskatchewan Canada. August died in Consul, Saskachewan, Canada on April 10, 1927.
