Ed was born in December 26, 1866, in Hartsagg Township, Van Buren County, Arkansas, the son of Logan T. Millsaps and Elizabeth ‘Lettie' A. Cailor. He was the third of ten children. Ed married Martha Catherine Mason on July 8, 1888, in Arkansas. Shortly afterward, they made their way to Oklahoma Territory — sometime around 1889 or 1890. On May 8, 1901, Edward was issued a land patent for 160 acres, in the SW/4 of Section 14-6N-1E. His land was a half-mile west, north a mile, then west another half mile from Box. He built a log cabin and began farming.
He and Martha had two or three children; however, the only one known for sure was William Logan Millsaps, b. October 4, 1890, Lexington, Cleveland County, O.T.
When Ed's brother, Napoleon Millsaps, lost his wife shortly after the birth of their daughter, Napoleon asked Ed to take over the care of the infant, Martha Elizabeth Millsaps. Ed and Martha took the baby and raised her as one of their own.
Martha died in 1927, and shortly after her death, Ed and Mary Elizabeth Millsap were married in 1927, at Purcell, McClain County, Oklahoma.
Mary Elizabeth, Ed's new wife, was also his second cousin, once removed. Her father, Hill, was a second cousin to Edward. Ed and Mary had no children, but Mary helped raise one of Ed's children. They also took over the upbringing of Ed's niece, Mattie Harrison. She was the daughter of Elizabeth Mason Harrison, sister to Ed's wife Martha Mason.
Ed was a farmer and was also on the school board for many years. He was said to have had a very jovial personality and loved to laugh. He died June 20, 1947, and was buried at Lexington Cemetery in southern Cleveland County, Oklahoma.
