John Franklin Barnes married Lou Ella Hamm on 3 February 1898 at Alabama. The couple moved to East Texas and then to Lueders in 1926 from Clarksville.

Services were held at Lueders Baptist Church officiated by Gene McComb, pastor and Harold Mobley. Mr. Barnes was Baptist and a retired farmer.

Survived by his wife; three sons - F.B., Joe Bill and Arvil Barnes; three daughters - Mrs. Dean Hines, Mrs. Paul Koch, Mrs. Ruby Nell Barnes; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
