The son of Benjamin Parker, who gave the land - along with Charles S. Morton - on which Charleston sat helped make the first survey of the town. He and his wife Dorcas Heath Parker built their home on the northeast corner of what is now Olvie and Fourteenth Street. The inscription on Daniel Parker's side of the stone says:
Farwell dear wife and children all
From you, Father Christ, doth call
Mourn not For me, it is in vain
To call me to your sight again.
