Floyd L. Rogers, Retired Novelty Farmer, Died Friday; He Was 87

Floyd Leroy Rogers, 87, a retired farmer and lifelong resident of the Novelty community, died at 6:45 o'clock Friday evening, Dec. 29, 1972, at the Laughlin Hospital in Kirksville. He had been admitted there Nov. 26.

Funeral services were at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel in Edina with the Reverends Richard Ralstin of Novelty and Bob Schofield of Lancaster officiating. Burial was in the Novelty Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, who before their marriage Jan. 12, 1908, at Novelty, was Miss Winnie McCarty, two daughters, Margaret, Mrs. Paul Egge, of Vinton, Iowa, and Mrs. Leota Moubry of Novelty, a son, Carroll Rogers, also of Novelty, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Rogers was born Jan. 13, 1885, in Knox County, a son of one of the 14 children of Sanford C. and Margaret Paralee Pond Rogers, who came to Missouri in 1866 from Illinois. The mother died Feb. 19, 1936, and the father about twenty years before that. Mr. and Mrs. Rogers lived their entire married life on a farm south of Novelty and would have observed their 65th wedding anniversary next week. Mr. Rogers was a member of the Novelty Christian Church.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 13 sisters and brothers, five of whom preceded their mother in death and were Arrenor Kreiger, Ellen Arment, Sanford O. Rogers and two sisters in infancy, and also Mrs. Essie McNeil, Mrs. Eulala Lowary, James A., William S., Joseph C., Austin T., Arvie B., and Zera F. Rogers.
