Balser's 1st wife and mother of his nine children was Lucinda Smith Keith b. 1799 in PA d.1838 in Illinois. They were married Aug. 30, 1814 in PA.

2nd wife was Sarah Caswell Whitney Keith b. 1789 in Connecticut. They were married Jan. 11, 1852 in Boone County, Illinois.
