Mrs. Nancy Jane Meekins, 78, of Hatteras died Saturday [Sept. 22, 1962] in a hospital in Prince George, Md. Mrs. Meekins, a native of Hatteras, lived with her granddaughter, Mrs. Charles R. Darlington, in Bowie, Md. for 6 years.
She was a daughter of Benjamin and Mrs. Amanda B. Ballance and widow of John W. Meekins. She was a member of Hatteras Methodist Church, a life member of the Woodman Circle, and a member of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by 2 brothers: Isaiah Ballance of Hatteras and Tom Ballance of Chester, Pa.; 1 granddaughter.
A funeral service was held Wednesday in Hatteras Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Vann Cash. Burial was in the family plot at Hatteras.
