Mr. Chapman was born and reared near Garlin, being a son of the late Buck and Mary E. Moore Chapman. In 1905 he married Miss Viola Bryant and she died January 18, 1938. Nine children were born to this union and eight survive. They are: Robert Chapman and Raymond Chapman, of Garlin; Rollin Chapman, of Lebanon, Ohio; Mrs. Allene Kimbler, Mrs. Marie Collins, Mrs. Louise Schmidt and Miss Mildred Chapman, all of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Mrs. Catherine Norris, of Chicago, Ill.
In 1940 he married Mrs. Amanda Scott and they had one daughter, Lorena. They survive him together with the following brothers and sisters: Barnett Chapman, Columbia; Walter Chapman, Louisville; Garnett Chapman, Tompkinsville; Mrs. Ready Grant, Garlin; Mrs. Nona McNebb and Mrs. Elsie Klenetra, of Holland, Mich.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Beulah Chapel, conducted by Rev. Harold Wolgemuth, assisted by Rev. Clifford Spurlock. Interment was in the Redman Cemetery.
The pallbearers were: William Kimbler, Holland Norris, Johnny Burton, Pink Dunbar, Welby Shepherd, Logan Grant, Drewey Bryant, Leslie Holmes, Welby Holmes, Russell Holmes, Orville Burton, Daniel Grider, and George Richards.
