John McClain, a longtime windmiller in this area, was buried Friday in Crosbyton Cemetery following 2 p.m. memorial services at Adams Funeral Home. Carrol Robertson, a local Church of Christ minister, officiated.
Serving as pallbearers were: Don Ballard, Albert Buck, Leonard Foust, Bill Campbell, Dennis Robertson, and N. J. Fowler.

Mr. McClain was 83.

He was claimed by death at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital following a prolonged illness.

Born July 16, 1897 in Pine Bluff, Ark., Mr. McClain moved to Crosby County in 1914. Prior to his retirement, he was a longtime employee of Ballard Well Service.

In recent years, he had resided at Crosbyton Care Center.

Survivors include two sisters, Treecie Coopinger of Mingus, Colo., and Ophelia Compton of Durango, Colo.
