J. Craig was born on November 25, 1865 in Kentucky. J.C. worked during his adult life in mining. J.C was first marriage was to Margaret "Maggie" L. Zellers. Maggie passed away on October 2, 1912. He later got re-married to Allie Poundstone Blackwell. She also preceeded him in death on May 14, 1935. J. Craig passed away on January 28, 1948. His cause of death was cancer of the lower lip that metastasis to his chest. He was laid to rest along with his wives in Mount Hope Cemetery in Webb City.
