Funeral sevices for Mrs. Samantha Spencer were held from the Harden's Chapel Methodist Church August 5 with burial in the Harden's Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. Spencer was one of the county's pioneer citizens, the widow of the late H. J. Spencer who died in 1940. She was the daughter of the late Hiram and Mary Fikes. She died at the home of her son, H. G. Spencer in the Clay Community on August 4, 1958, after having suffered a stroke. She was 85 years old. She had been a member of the New Home Baptist Church for 50 years.

She leaves five sons, C. L. Spencer, C. O. Spencer, C. W. Spencer, and H. G. Spencer, all of Fulton, and O. K. Spencer of Winter Garden, Fla.; one daughter, Mrs. Delphia Loranne Hankins of Aberdeen.
