Augustus was in Christian County, Kentucky by about 1812, where he married Elizabeth Denson (20 Sept. 1794-12 June 1844). They moved to Morgan County, Alabama by 1820, and Augustus moved to Lamar Co., Texas by 1850. (One source states Elizabeth died in Arkansas). In 1861, Augustus married Mary Frances McCabe (9 Oct. 1839-18 April 1920). There were ten children born of the first marriage, and one of the second.
The children of Augustus Grave Beauchamp were: Newell/Nowell/Noel Haggar Beauchamp (13 Jan. 1813-Dec. 1869, Titus Co., Tex., m. Mary King, 2nd m. Isabella Robinson), Jesse Denson Beauchamp (13 Feb. 1815-24 Feb. 1889, Giles Co., Tenn., m. Elizabeth Dinsmore, 2nd m. Josephine Hamby), John Gay Beauchamp (22 Feb. 1818-?), Minerva B. Beauchamp (11 Feb. 1820-13 March 1885, Noxubee Co. Miss., m. Andrew McDonald Dinsmore), William Beauchamp (30 March 1822-?), Sarah E. Beauchamp (27 March 1824-30 May 1893, Lamar Co., Tex., m. Zachariah Miller, 2nd m. William Fuller), Emeline Beauchamp (22 May 1826-?), Nancy Pat Beauchamp (11 Nov. 1828-?), Thomas Benton Beauchamp (13 Oct. 1834-24 Aug. 1852, Lamar Co., Tex.), Mary Elizabeth Beauchamp (18 March 1838-13 Nov. 1865, Lamar Co., Tex., m. James B. Davis), and of the second marriage, Dr. Augustus Thomas Benton Beauchamp (23 Oct. 1864-28 Dec. 1950, Lamar Co., Texas, m. Nancy Womack).
While some sources claim Augustus was a son of a Joshua Beauchamp and was born in Kentucky, he told the census takers he was born in North Carolina, and the mortality schedule (answered by his family after his death) stated he was born in South Carolina. I feel almost certain he was a son of Jesse Beachum/Beauchamp, who was in Anson Co., NC in 1790 and Chesterfield Co., SC in 1800.
