Although married in her 30's and adopting her husband's surname, Hart, Juanita later reverted to her maiden name and single status. Juanita's grave stone carries her maiden name, Beckley.

In the 1910 US Census, Juanita, single, aged 24, was living with her parents at 1278 King Street in Honolulu. Her father died in July 4, 1910. He was one of the best known shipping merchants of the Hawaian Islands, particularly successful in the interisland steamship business and at his death was a director and the major stockholder of the Wilder steamship company. For 20 years, he was master of the ship Kinau, and given the honorary title of "Admiral."

By 1913, Juanita was living with her widowed mother at their seaside Diamond Head Road home called Aqua Marina. Juanita was considered to be one of the best swimmers in the islands, and in 1913 she swam two miles through rough surf to aid a stranded schooner caught on the reef.

On 12 Mar 1917, at age 31, Juanita married Lionel Reginald Hart, born 9 Jan 1878 in Honolulu, son of Haleakala Napela and Henry J. Hart. She listed him as her husband in a 1919 passport application.

On a 1924 Matson Passenger manifest, she was listed as "Juanita B. Hart," travelling to and from San Francisco. Lionel was not listed as being on that trip.

By 1930, Mary was living with her 62 year-old widowed mother, Mary, at Aqua Marina, and identifying herself as "single" at age 44.

The 1930 US Census shows Lionel Hart living with relatives and listed as "single" at age 52.
